How Do I Create A Custom Order?Since all custom order pricing is based on the build specifications and materials, it is best to reach out through email. What if my knife needs to be sharpened? While there are many options out there for DIY knife sharpeners, it is always best to have it done by a professional. For that reason, we offer sharpening and maintenance on any knife that you have purchased from us. Just set up an appointment by emailing us at support@crosspeinedforge.com then ship the knife to us, and we will sharpen it and ship it right back.
-
What if my knife handle starts to feel rough?Over time, wooden handles tend to get a little rough due to their naturally porous makeup. Luckily, we offer maintenance and clean up services on all of our knives. So, if you need to have your handle refinished, just set up an appointment by emailing support@crosspeinedforge.com , then ship us the knife, and we will clean it up and send it back good as new. However, the best way to keep your handles maintained and looking their best for as long as possible is to routinely wipe them down with a light coating of knife-wax to help repel water and seal up those pores.
-
Is my new knife dishwasher safe? No! You should never put any knife in the dishwasher. Especially a custom, handcrafted knife. Dishwasher detergents are extremely harmful to the materials, plus the water temperatures and high-pressure water jets can cause damage to the knife and handle materials. It's best to always wash by hand and dry immediately. For added protection a light coating of food grade knife wax should be applied before storing.

How should I care for my new knife? After use, your knife should be hand-washed with a mild dish-soap and water, then dried immediately. For added protection, you should wipe down the blade and the handle with a light coating of food-grade knife wax and store it some where safe, out of the reach of children.
